Prepare.... advent two

This second week of Advent calls us to prepare for the coming of the Lord amidst our waiting. We can choose to be with all that gets in the way of receiving our loving God anew. We can make room for our hearts to share and let go of all that has built up over time. All along the build up, the gook and grime thought it was helping to protect the heart from the vulnerability of getting hurt (again); when really it has slowly built a divide between us and a loving God. There has been no room in the inn because all the layers of protection have blocked every entry way. You can invite the build up to let go and drop away simply by allowing yourself to be mindful of its presence. Or, we can always resist. For those of us who resist, J the B turns up the heat (literally!), he puts the fear of God in us. He warns “Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.” And if that wasn’t enough, he goes on to share, “His (Jesus’) winnowing-fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing-floor and will gather his wheat into the granary; but the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire.” How will you prepare for the coming of the Lord this week?
